Withlacoochee State Trail – Croom Road Trailhead to Owensboro/Highway 301 Trailhead, Ridge Manor, Trilby – Hernando/Pasco County, Florida

In some instances, you will be traveling through some very rural areas. A cell phone is always recommended. Also, always inform family and friends of your biking plans and expected return time.
Observe wildlife but please respect their environment and their freedom to live unmolested. Leave nothing but tire tracks.

Getting There:

From Interstate 75 heading either north of south, take Exit 301 (Cortez Boulevard aka Highway 50) west. Keep west on Highway 98 (Highway 50) toward Brooksville. Make a right onto Croom Road (be WARNED!! Parts of this road are rutted dirt and unpaved. The trailhead will appear on your right shortly after road paving resumes.

Trail Length:

This loop is 22 miles. This loop starts at the Croom Road TrailheadFloral City Trailhead and heads south through Ridge Manor and picturesque Trilby and continues on to the turn around at the Owensboro Junction besude U.S. Highway 301.

The Trail:

The trail bed is in fair shape. There are some dimples on the edges of the trail. The trail is flat with only minimal rises in terrain that should not prove too taxing to any riders.

The trail is mostly tree lined which provides shade for most the ride.

Facilities:

  • There are facilities at the Croom Road Trailhead.
  • There are facilities at the Ridge Manor Trailhead.

The Cons:

  • The scenery may seem monotonous to some.

The Pros:

  • Almost the entire 22 miles is tree lined.
  • Ridge Manor
  • Trilby
